2010 CAR Committee Descriptions
 
2010 BOARD LEADERSHIP FORUM
Participants will gain considerable knowledge from their fellow leaders and staff from other local Associations around the state.  In addition, CAR Leadership will avail themselves to the forum to discuss issues and answer questions.  The forum is open to all who wish to attend.

2010 CARHOF COMMITTEE (Housing Opportunity Foundation)
A nonprofit foundation that provides funding for safe, decent, and affordable housing in Colorado.

2010 COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
The goal of the Colorado Association of REALTORS® (CAR) Communication Committee is to unify all of CAR’s Divisions, Committees, Forums, and Task Forces to speak with one voice strengthening our ultimate goal to become the “Voice of Real Estate” in Colorado. This committee is appointed by the CAR President.

2010 EDUCATION FOUNDATION COMMITTEE
A nonprofit corporation that provides financial resources to educate the public about real estate.

2010 FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee reviews, and sets guidelines for the annual budget that is then considered by the Leadership Council and the Board of Directors.  The Finance Committee also reviews and manages the Colorado Association of REALTORS®' fiscal operations, reporting to the Board of Directors at each regular meeting.  Finance Committee members are by appointment of the President.

2010 INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
The International Committee’s purpose is to provide networking opportunities for CAR’s international real estate practitioners among themselves and with outside experts in affiliated fields. The committee shall provide international oriented education for all members concerning business practices of non-US practitioners and education on working and communicating with the emerging local markets. In addition, the International Committee shall support both inbound and outbound real estate trade missions to and from other NAR reciprocal countries. The International Committee will support all NAR host/ambassador programs in Colorado and maintain dialogue with all Colorado based NAR President’s Liaisons.

2010 LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE
Members are recommended by their local board/association. This is an annual appointment by the CAR President.
The committee monitors all legislation considered by the Colorado General Assembly; promotes or opposes any and all legislation which would have a favorable or negative impact on the real estate industry; proposes legislation that will improve the real estate industry's operation; communicates on a regular basis with members and Boards of REALTORS® on legislative issues; and issues Calls-to-Action on state legislative matters.  LPC members are appointed by the President.  Local Associations are requested to make recommendations of members from their association who wish to serve.

2010 MLS FORUM
This is an open forum and it is not necessary to sign up to attend, your involvement is welcome.

2010 POLITICAL SURVIVAL COMMITTEE
The PSC is comprised of 17 members appointed by the CAR President. It consists of at least one member from each CAR District plus eleven at-large appointments. In general, the PSC will aid the local boards in the providing political contributions to local candidates and issues. The PSC will also make endorsements and political contributions to state-level candidates and issues; except that the PSC will only provide a recommendation to the CAR Board of Directors for statewide constitutional officer candidates.
These members are charged with distributing funds for local and state candidates and issues; supporting grassroots and lobbying efforts; and educating local and state members on REALTOR® matters of public policy concern. The PSC will achieve its objectives, in part, by transferring funds to the REALTOR® Small Donor Committee and the REALTOR® Political Committee. Additionally, the PSC will manage and distribute some mandatory dues.

2010 REALTOR® POLITICAL COMMITTEE
The PC is comprised of 5 members appointed by the CAR President. Primary purpose is to coordinate with the Political Survival Committee and the Realtor Small Donor Committee in distributing funds for local and state candidates. Members of the PC must also be appointed to the PSC.

2010 REALTOR® SMALL DONOR COMMITTEE
The SDC is comprised of 5 members appointed by the CAR President. Primary purpose is to coordinate with the Political Survival Committee and the Realtor Political Committee in distributing funds for local and state candidates. Members of the SDC must also be appointed to the PSC.
 
2010 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to oversee all of CAR's education services including the GRI/MRE education programs by reviewing recommendations from the Education Director relative to fee/tuition structures; auditing courses to evaluate course curriculum and instructors; conducting ongoing needs assessment programs; identifying improvements on curriculum, faculty, marketing issues; staying abreast of developments in the International arena.

2010 PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE
Arbitrations, Ethics, Grievance and Mediation Hearing panel members for inter-board arbitrations and cases sent through the statewide program are selected from the members of this committee.  The president of CAR approves one committee member and one alternate from each board from those nominations submitted by local associations.  Contact your local association if you are interested in being nominated for this state committee.  Applicants must have completed professional standards training within the last three years.

2010 PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
This workgroup is charged with educating the public about the value of using a REALTOR®, brand the REALTOR® R and to reinforce to members what it means being a REALTOR®. The mission of the campaign is to inform and educate the public about the value of using a REALTOR®, ultimately driving Colorado consumers to REALTORS® for their real estate services.

2010 REALTOR® OF THE YEAR COMMITTEE
The REALTOR® of the Year Committee consists of the past five “REALTORS® of the Year,” including the current “REALTOR® of the Year.” The most senior member shall be the chairman. The committee shall establish and promulgate rules for selection for candidates for consideration for the award and help with the planning of the presentation at the CAR Inaugural Dinner.

2010 RISK MANAGEMENT FORUM

2010 STATE CONVENTON TASK FORCE
Help plan one of the nation's best real estate conferences.  State Convention Committee members are appointed by the President.  Any member that is interested in serving are encouraged to apply.

2010 STRATEGIC VISION TASK FORCE
Responsible for considering and recommending future strategic initiatives to ensure that CAR remains on the front edge of the members’ needs.

2010 TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
The Technology Committee reviews technological innovations and services, and their applications for use within the real estate community. The committee also promotes the use and benefits of the CAR website at www.ColoradoREALTORS.com.
