Amazon HQ2 Headquarters Creates Concern for the 20 Finalist Cities

Colorado is currently in the running of the 20 finalist cities that could become the new home for Amazon HQ2 second headquarters.  While there is excitement about this potential opportunity there is also concern.  Colorado’s housing market is already strained and if Amazon chooses Colorado the strain could worsen. Kelly Moye a Colorado Association of REALTORS spokesperson had this to say, “A hot market will stay hot for a while until it becomes truly unaffordable for most people,”

 

Colorado’s real estate market is already stinging with anticipation of Amazon coming.  Homeowners waiting to sell hoping they could make more. “The perception of Google coming to Boulder created — I’ll call it arrogance among homeowners,” said Moye. Current homeowners decided their house was worth more than it was before and marked it up accordingly. “Before Google even showed up, our market boomed just by the pure fact they were going to come.”
