Law Week Colorado: Real Estate Brokers Get Coronavirus Assistance in Transactions

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused every industry to re-think the way it conducts business transactions. The real estate industry is prime example in which every entity has had to come together for solutions.

Earlier this month, the Colorado Bar Association approved an addendum for real estate brokers allowing for 14-day extensions of already set deadlines, such as appraisals and closing dates.

CAR General Counsel Scott Peterson oversees CAR’s Legal Hotline. Lately, he has been fielding questions from concerned members on how to conduct transactions during the pandemic.

“I was getting blown up from every direction, but the most consistent request — or plea almost — for this was coming out of the legal hotline for brokers who were trying to give their clients [and] consumers some solution,” Peterson told Law Week Colorado.
