Legislative Advocacy this Week at the State Capitol
Wildfire Legislation At the Capitol
There are a plethora of wildfire bills at the Capitol this year, whether it’s matching local grants, changing insurance coverage after disasters, helping to cover homeowner mitigation costs to create defensible space, or creating healthier forests, or even looking at how camera’s can help us see wildfires coming. CAR is also tracking bills that relate to where you can vote after your home is destroyed by a natural disaster, and whether controlled burns need more procedural processes too.

If you are interested in learning more about CAR’s work related to preventing wildfires and public policy related to mitigation, check out the next Colorado Project Wildfire meeting by emailing govaffairs@coloradorealtors.com to get more information on the next meeting at Spring Summit in April.

Learn More About Taxable Sales
This month marks two years from the start of the economic fallout caused by pandemic-related restrictions. As measured by jobs, the Colorado economy is still months away from full recovery. However, economic activity as proxied by taxable sales, generated from the purchase of taxable goods and services, has more than fully recovered. Through the end of 2021, this crucial driver of both state and local sales tax revenue has grown well beyond pre-pandemic levels, even after adjusting for population growth and recent inflation.
