Study Finds Best Places for Homeownership in Colorado

San Francisco, CA (April 1, 2014) – NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, recently conducted a study to find the best places for homeownership in Colorado. Firestone topped the list while other Denver-area cities, like Dakota Ridge and Castle Rock, also made the top ten.

As renting becomes less affordable, NerdWallet wanted to give potential homebuyers a look at the current housing market. NerdWallet based its rankings on the following criteria:

  • Homeownership rate
  • Selected monthly homeowner costs
  • Monthly household income
  • Population growth

NerdWallet ranked Firestone as the best place in Colorado for homeownership. The area has a homeownership rate of 88.8%, and median monthly homeowner costs are $1,881. Firestone is also the fastest-growing city on the list, experiencing a population growth rate of 13.5% between 2010 and 2012. Lone Tree boasts the highest median home value, at $445,600, while Black Forest was found to have the highest homeownership rate – 94.8%.

Other cities that made the top ten include Erie and The Pinery. Read the full study online.
