REALTORS® Give Homeowners Tips for Buying in a Wild Market

Since Denver homes were only on the market for about eight days in March, which was down from 16 homes the year before, CAR Spokesperson Kelly Moye offered tips to those trying to buy a home. Finding an experienced REALTOR® was her first piece of advice; followed by making earnest money nonrefundable; spending 20% over the asking price and allowing for that amount in the price point; and considering a townhouse or condo as an affordable entry point to the market. CAR spokesperson Matthew Leprino advises: “If you can afford $600,000 don’t look at $600,000 (price point). If you can afford $600,000, and that’s where you will end up, I would encourage you to look at $515,000 or $520,000,” he said. “There is nothing worse than finding “the one” only to realize you can’t be a competitor in that offer period at all.”
