Statement from the Colorado Association of REALTORS® RE: Colorado Builds Better Legislation

We appreciate the thoughtful work of the bill sponsors and the diverse group of individuals and organizations who have put forward a proposal that purports to increase housing while reducing government restrictions. While we can all point to a wide range of factors that complicate access to housing, the one common denominator in this equation is our long-term, troubling lack of supply. Unlike several pieces of legislation introduced in this 2023 session which, if passed, would result in greater restrictions on housing providers, increasing housing costs and further reducing housing options, this approach looks to provide the tools and incentives needed to create and implement solutions for our residents and keep our economy thriving. The Colorado Association of REALTORS® and our nearly 30,000 members are eager to continue our work with the Governor and his team, our legislators, as well as Colorado’s business and community leaders to help be a part of the long-term solutions that our residents so desperately need when it comes to housing access and affordability.
