With technology allowing more people to work from home, an increasing number of buyers are purchasing homes that were once viewed by many as vacation destinations. Single family home sales in Garfield County were up 86% in July 2020 compared to July 2019. In New Castle, single family home sales were up 128.6% and 233% in Glenwood Springs in July.

USA Today reported on CAR's July 2020 Market Trends report. It notes, "Sales rose 15% from June and 21% from the previous July – before COVID-19 when the economy was rolling. Statewide the median home price rose a startling 4.5% in one month, to $443,925."

“Buyers waited on an hour-by-hour basis for the new listings to show up, then competed to win the bidding wars,” said Colorado Springs-area REALTOR Jay Gupta in response to CAR's July 2020 Market Statistics Report.
As noted in the report, buyers snapped up a record 10,771 single family homes in Colorado in July.
