CAR Honors Scott Matthias as REALTOR of the Year

Select members throughout state also honored for distinguished service.

Scott Matthias, Broker Associate with RE/MAX Professionals in Highlands Ranch, Colo., was recognized as the Colorado REALTOR® of the Year by the Colorado Association of REALTORS® (CAR) at its 96th annual convention.

The award is the most prestigious award given to a CAR member and is a culmination of a distinguished career within the REALTOR® organization— at the local, state and national levels. In addition to activity within the association, the REALTOR® of the Year is a person active at the community level and successful in business.

A Denver native, Matthias has helped more than 1000 families and individuals realize their homeownership dreams throughout his 30-year career. An active member of the community he has worked with countless charitable organizations and foundations focused on a wide range of programs designed to help children to projects that have allowed him to help build homes in Mexico.

Active in his professional associations at the local, state and national level, Matthias has served as president of the South Metro Denver REALTOR® Association and more recently as President of the Colorado Association of REALTORS®.

“Scott has not only been a true leader for our association but he has demonstrated, time-and-time-again, that his motto, ‘You get by giving,’ is at the very heart of what he does every day,” said Colorado Association of REALTORS® CEO Tyrone Adams. “We’re extremely grateful for the countless hours of time, expertise and total dedication that Scott has demonstrated to his clients, our profession and our communities over the past 30 years.”

In addition to honoring Matthias, outgoing CAR Chair Alan Lovitt presented the association’s Distinguished Service Award to six individuals. The award honors outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and the association.  Honorees for 2016 were:
