Colorado Association of REALTORS® honors Bonnie Smith as REALTOR® of the Year

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Bonnie Smith, Owner and Managing Broker of Exclusive Mountain Retreats Real Estate in Breckenridge, Colo., was recognized as the Colorado REALTOR® of the Year by the Colorado Association of REALTORS® (CAR) at its 97th Annual Conference.

 

The award is the most prestigious honor given to a CAR member and is a culmination of a distinguished career within the REALTOR® organization across the local, state and national levels. In addition to activity within the association, the REALTOR® of the Year is a person active at the community level and successful in business.

 

Over the course of her 22-year real estate career, Smith has helped numerous families and individuals realize their homeownership and business dreams. An active member of her community, she is involved in a wide range of educational, civic and philanthropic activities and organizations. She has served as a volunteer for the Summit Foundation, as well as the Summit High Scholarship Committee for 27 years. Ms. Smith is a graduate of Boston College and attended The Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Active in her professional associations at the local, state and national level, Smith has served as the Summit Association of REALTORS® Chair, was the Summit Association REALTOR® of the Year, and most recently, serves as a Director for both the Colorado Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. Smith was a key leader in organizing Colorado Project Wildfire – an organization that works to educate homeowners on mitigating their homes and the dangers of wildfire. She has also been a champion in promoting the REALTORS® Political Action Committee and fighting for homeowners’ rights at the capitol.

 

“Bonnie’s commitment to the REALTOR® organization is endless,” said Tyrone Adams, CEO of the Colorado Association of REALTORS®. “She is seen as a thought leader in the real estate industry, and we’re grateful for the countless hours of time and dedication that Bonnie gives back to her profession and her community.”

 

Additional awards presented during the Conference included:

  • The Gus Williams Colorado Young Professional Network REALTOR® of the Year- Taylor Wilson (Cherry Creek Properties LLC, Denver)
  • Political Service Award – Kit Cowperthwaite (Distinctive Properties Ltd, Littleton)

 

Outgoing CAR Chair Mark Trenka presented the association’s Distinguished Service Award to seven individuals. The award honors outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and the association.  Honorees for 2017 were:

  • Alan Lovitt (Re/Max Advantage Realty, Colorado Springs)
