2023 Chair-Elect Jason Witt Touts ‘Who We R®’

Cortez REALTOR® and 2023 CAR Chair-Elect Jason Witt (who will serve as CAR Chair in 2024) noted some interesting facts about his community and the role of REALTORS® in their own communities, as well as his role as an incoming leader for the Association.

Witt says REALTORS® can play an important role in building health and sustainable communities, and he hopes to bring that aspiration to the state level when he joins CAR leadership as Chair-Elect in 2023. Witt says REALTORS® can play a key role in building healthy communities by educating community leaders and homeowners about a wide range of topics from affordable housing programs to sustainable building practices. “We as REALTORS® are out there all the time…we are the source (of information). And that’s what we have to be…a good steward of our communities,” said Witt.

Montezuma county suffers from a lack of entry-level housing. During the past legislative session, CAR supported a number of successful bills that will provide developer incentives to build affordable and entry-level housing. Witt says REALTORS® have a responsibility to know and understand those types of programs so they can serve as a resource to community leaders as they plan for growth.
